Privacy policy

Last updated 28 September 2026. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use metric-kitchen.com.

The short version

• You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email address.
• The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
• We show ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies. You can control this (see below).

Information we handle

Recipe links. When you paste a recipe link, it is sent to our server so we can fetch that page and extract the recipe. The extracted ingredients, temperatures and pan sizes may be cached for up to one hour so repeat requests are faster. We don't keep a record of who asked for which recipe.

Pasted ingredient lists are converted in your browser and never sent to us.

Settings. Preferences such as the Australian-tablespoon option are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. We can't see them, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Server logs. Our site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We use IP addresses briefly to limit how many recipe links can be converted per minute; they are not stored. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps keep the site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info.

• If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time using the privacy link that appears on the page.

Children

This site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you. Because we don't collect personal information directly, most requests will concern our advertising and hosting partners, whose policies are linked above. If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
